Aloha to our Ballet Hawaii Family –
It is wonderful to be looking forward to the coming months and all that Ballet Hawaii has to offer to the community.
We have presentations on the 14th and 15th of May at Leeward Community College, featuring our students in their end-of-year performance. All students have the opportunity to participate. We also have, once again, the Summer Intensive performance on July 30th. This is an amazing opportunity for all of those that participate in our Summer Intensive program. We have accomplished dancers and teachers coming from the foremost ballet companies to lead a three-week workshop for students from all over the world which culminates in a performance on stage with our students dancing along with the professionals that have been teaching them. There are still a few openings available for those interested. Please check our website for more information.
More wonderful news is that Ballet Hawaii will be presenting The Nutcracker once again at the Blaisdell Concert Hall in early December and we will be holding auditions at our studios for the performance in early September. The performances will be on Dec. 1st through 4th. We have not had a chance to present an in-person, on-stage Nutcracker since 2019, so it will be wonderful and exciting to enjoy the enthusiasm of the cast and guest dancers during rehearsals and backstage once again.
On February 11, 2023, we will have our annual Ballet Ball, our most important fundraising event each year, at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. This year’s theme is “All You Need is Love”. This event is always one of the best parties in town and also an evening with a purpose where we event will raise much-needed funds to help sustain our mission of teaching, producing, and presenting dance to our community.
I am so in awe of what our teachers and students achieve each year, especially the past two years when circumstances were rather difficult. Our faculty is excellent and never stopped working with our students. A special Thank You to you all.
Sadly, we will be bidding aloha to Miss Caitlin in July. She will be moving to St. Thomas, but hopefully will return from time to time to check up on us. She has been a wonderful addition to our Ballet Hawaii family. We all will miss you, Caitlin!
We hope all of our supporters and dance enthusiasts will join us going forward to help celebrate Ballet Hawaii and dance in Hawaii.
