Ballet Hawaii Performing Ensemble Raises over $3,000 for Maui Strong

  |   news

Ballet Hawaii’s Performing Ensemble danced their hearts out for audiences in three in-studio shows on August 25-27, with two out of three shows having sold out of tickets entirely! 100% of proceeds received through ticket sales are going to the Hawaii Community Foundation – Maui Strong fund, which provides financial resources and immediate support for the people affected by the devastating wildfires on Maui. Thanks to the generosity of the Ballet Hawaii community and supporters of the arts on O’ahu, Ballet Hawaii’s Performing Ensemble is grateful to have raised over $3,000 to donate to the Maui Strong fund! We continue to keep Maui in our thoughts as we pursue our mission of spreading the joy of dance and performing arts to the people of Hawaii.

Ballet Hawaii’s Performing Ensemble was founded in January 2019 with the intention of presenting Classical and Contemporary Ballet works to the public and to provide our dancers with expanded performance opportunities. Students are selected, by invitation, from the three highest levels in the school, based on technical ability, maturity, and commitment to their rigorous training. The dancers participate in additional rehearsals and perform both original works by the Ensemble’s choreographers as well as Classical repertoire. The performances on August 25-27 featured choreographic works by Regina Ahlgren, Jennifer Gage, Christine Kaminski, Jonathan Mangosing, Harper Okamoto, Susan Quong, and several student-choreographed pieces, as well as classical selections from Cinderella.
