Development Associate

Job Type: Full time

Reports to: Executive Director

Payroll Classification: Exempt


Position Summary
The Development Associate handles the administrative and fundraising event aspects of the organization. Duties include working on managing a database of fundraising efforts, donor relations, organizing and running events and creating reports on individual and institutional donors. You will work in tandem with the social media and communications team to institute strategies to attract donors to the organization. Our ideal candidate has experience creating an atmosphere of support for an organization and improving fundraising efforts through data-driven techniques. We are looking to onboard the right person with a positive attitude to be part of our team.


Roles and Responsibilities
The job’s focus is on donor giving and is tasked with several key duties, such as:
• Work with Executive Director to execute fundraising goals
• Improve donor relations by fulfilling essential administrative and fundraising duties
• Be a key member of the team with social media and communications partners to create successful, memorable donor events and fundraising campaigns
• Produce reports on individual and institutional donors
• Perform data entry, grant reporting and help track donations in a database
• Perform research to discover development trends and procure fundraising opportunities
• Other duties assigned by the Executive Director

• Communication: Great verbal and written communication skills are essential for this position as this person liaises with staff, board members, vendors, potential supporters and high-value donors
• Creativity: An understanding of the trends and techniques of fundraising and the creativity to align campaigns and events with donor trends and market changes to interest and engage people
• Goal-Oriented: Focused mindset on achievement of SMART goals set by Executive Director
• Database: Skilled in using fundraising platforms and tools that analyze donors, returns and KPI on campaigns
• Innovation: Positive attitude to be part of a culture of continuous reflection, improvement and action-oriented behavior to move organization forward
• Time Management: The skill of organizing tasks to meet deadlines is essential for this professional role


• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
• 5+ years of experience in fundraising
• Valid driverʻs license and clean driving record
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Zoom, Dropbox, Google Drive and donor database applications
• Willingness to learn new software and platforms as needed
• An open and flexible mindset to adjust to a fast-paced business environment
• Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• High attention to detail


Working Conditions
• Able to lift 25 lbs.
• In-person office setting, Monday through Friday
• Some evening/weekend work on occasion
• Mental Demands: Must be able to work within deadlines and process multiple projects simultaneously
