For over 40 years Ballet Hawaii has celebrated the holidays by enchanting audiences with our special adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet, The Nutcracker. Once again, our students are excited to experience the incredible opportunity of performing alongside professional dancers from internationally-recognized ballet companies for friends, family, and thousands of guests.
Set in the 1858 Kingdom of Hawaii, this lavish production remains a glowing example of how world-class dance performances enrich our local culture and community. For the first time in its history, The Nutcracker is being performed at the Blaisdell Arena instead of the Concert Hall. With this move comes a much larger financial burden for set design. Since 2005, our Angel Program has given children from underserved Title I schools, community partners and military families the opportunity to attend The Nutcracker, a full-length ballet, as a special gift during the holiday season.
